However, CHUNRYU continues to take up endless challenges, even now, as fishermen dream of fishing for large fish. The company is always dedicated to the development of technology and new products, and it makes fishing rods that are better, more convenient to use, and representative of CHUNRYU's unique ‘great dream’ that no one can follow and duplicate.
Just as the large carp cannot live in small, narrow ponds, CHUNRYU's thoughts and dreams for the future are infinitely grand. CHUNRYU Co., Ltd., which began as CHUNRYU Industry in 1989, has been focusing on OEM production for 20 years since its founding. In 2006, CHUNRYU's original and flagship brand, SulHwaSoo, became the new powerhouse of the freshwater fishing rod market after 10 years spent targeting the domestic market. At the time, the design of the SulHwaSoo Gold was a shock to the system. For the first time in the world, a plum pattern was printed on the silkscreen on the inner aspect of a fishing rod. It was a product that fishermen had never experienced before, and their design led to the subsequent release of the "SulHwaSoo Premium", which resulted in continued successes. Shortly after the launch of SulHwaSoo, a community site publicly tested the product as a company-specific equivalent, beating the products of a well-known Korean company and making SulHwaSoo the best-ever product.
'Make the product that consumers want'
CHUNRYU's rapid growth was based on its own marketing strategy that pinpointed consumer desires. As such, the intent was to make the products that consumers want. The successive triumphs of the SIN CHHUN ONG series, which aimed at producing the highest quality rods for fresh water as well as domestic sea reel float fishing, were enough to establish a foothold in the fishing industry and solidify the CHUNRYU brand reputation.
Since then, CHUNRYU has been producing and disseminating a number of entirely domestically produced products for each freshwater and sea fishing that have gained the attention and affection of fishermen.
CHUNRYU continues to focus on improving productivity and reducing costs by automating its facilities and improving processes. CHUNRYU's basic operational policy is that there is no future if we do not develop, change, or innovate in the future.
Launched life fishing brand MATTANZA
CHUNRYU does not settle for the success of SulHwaSoo and SIN CHUN ONG. In 2014, it also launched MATTANZA, a lifestyle fishing brand. MATTANZA is a term used to refer to a traditional tuna fishing technique that was practiced around the Mediterranean about 3,000 years ago. It is an electric fishing method that consists of luring and trapping tuna in long, land-connected trap nets, but MATTANZA is not actually just the act of fishing, but a festival involving all the villagers. As such, the MATTANZA brand motto is that fishing is always a fun festival.
MATTANZA develops and produces unique lure fishing supplies that can all operate together, in keeping with the preferences of lure fishing enthusiasts from recreational companions to pro anglers. It is a new challenge and change for CHUNRYU, a brand launched with the intention of helping to revitalize and develop sports fishing in South Korea and consequently to present a new paradigm.
Currently, MATTANZA has x-Band, Free Guy, KERES and other large-scale brands, with sub-categories existing under those respective umbrellas. A variety of fishing categories and type-specific products are produced and sold, and particularly with the reel system developed and produced domestically and in the Chinese OEM, the company is distributing a variety of reels to the domestic market, ranging from mid- and low-range prices up to higher price bands.
In recent years, MATTANZA has also launched functional shoes and life jackets, and in addition, various carbon-based products are being produced and delivered in precise standards, such as climbing poles for the elderly and for the visually impaired.
Seeking a second leap forward in production process automation,
CHUNRYU is aiming soon to be among the top three domestic fishing rod producers. The company is working on a large number of projects in order to achieve that goal, and its number one priority is the smart factory business. Although the media says that the fourth industrial revolution is upon us, the reality is that fishing rod production facilities are still below the level of labor-intensive industries, which is the second level of industry.
CHUNRYU is content with the present, but is not complacent, and always dreams of generating the highest consumer satisfaction in the way of fishing rod manufacturing. CHUNRYU is always aware that its uniqueness is completely novel, and that its uniqueness and freshness can’t be created by being settled in reality. With the establishment of quality stability, its commitment to productivity, and continued quality growth, the goal is to always think from the customer's point of view and focus on developing products that the customer truly wants.
